$75 for a Gourmet Winemaking Package ($152 Total Value)

  • A custom winemaking experience that yields 24 bottles of Premium wine (a $138 value)
  • Two bottles of hot sauce (a $14 value)

Customers choose from four varietals—merlot, cabernet sauvignon, pinot gris, and chardonnay—to create their own wines before adding yeast to induce fermentation. Six–eight weeks later, they return to separate the wine into 24 bottles to take home. Customers can provide their own bottles, or purchase them on-site ($0.75 each; corks, labels, and shrink-wrap included). For the hot sauces, customers choose from a wide selection, including Gecko Gary’s Roasted Red Pepper and Blair’s Death Rain Chipotle, a combination of ancho and habanero peppers.

Wineries are often found far down country roads, shrouded by the curling tendrils of their vineyards. At The Wine Garden, though, the entire winemaking experience can be had without setting foot outside of the city.

Yeast bubbles busily in stainless-steel fermentation vessels, transforming the juices of grapes from wine regions around the world. The fermentation process yields wines that range from crisp chardonnay to heady cabernet franc, the progenitor of cabernet sauvignon, and oak barrels bestow some of the elixirs with a rich maze of tannins. Patrons play a major role in the entire process, selecting varietals and bottling finished wine. The Wine Garden’s gourmets also brew craft beers and stock hot sauces with humourous names such as Blair’s Chipotle Death Rain.
